Who are the favourites?

One thing is certain, currently there is no correlation between the Premier League table and the betting odds on offer for the season’s winning club. Out of its first two games Manchester City collected just 3 points and Manchester united collected just 4. Liverpool won its first two matches as did Tottenham. Of course it’s still early days and the dust should settle soon, but for those of us who prefer things to be a little open now is the time to make the best of it with some carefully planned betting.

When it comes to betting odds there are three possible strategies. If you want to draw a parallel with roulette, then betting on Manchester City, Manchester United, or Chelsea with odds of 9/4, 3/1 and 9/4 respectively is like betting on red or black. Betting on Tottenham or Arsenal at odds of 20/1 and 18/1 respectively is like betting on two numbers, and betting on anything else from Everton downwards is the equivalent of betting on a number, winning, and betting your winnings on another number. With Everton priced at 500/1 it is difficult not to bet on the club, and at 15,000/1 even Crystal Palace is a little tempting.

There is a long time to go before you can expect to collect your winnings on your choice of a Premiership winner. So if you are impatient to win a little cash in the interim you can always try your luck at one of the football themed slots at an online casino.

One that has a great appeal to football fans is the very retro three reel slot called Game On. This is an animal themed 2006 World Cup created by Microgaming and it is a great deal of fun. It’s just like an old fashioned pub slot machine with nudge and hold, and with the jackpot you can win up to 1000 times your bet.
