WENGER WANTED HIGUAIN

The manager of Arsenal, Arsene Wenger, has revealed that Gonzalo Higuain was on his radar this summer and he had tried to bring the former Real Madrid forward to the Emirates Stadium.

Higuain eventually signed for the Italian club Napoli which paid a transfer fee of 34.5 million Pounds to finalize that deal.

Arsenal and Napoli are going to take on each other in a Champions League game tomorrow and Higuain can prove to be a headache for Arsenal in that game. Arsenal are in great form at the moment and are currently topping the table – (check out the latest odds on Arsenal winning the league!)

Talking to the reporters ahead of the match against Napoli, Arsene Wenger said, “Gonzalo was one of the guys who were on our radar this summer. Unfortunately, we couldn’t secure his services.”

“Napoli’s timing on that was perhaps better than ours and they got him.”

“Real Madrid had put two players on sale. One was bought by Napoli, while, the other one (Mesut Ozil) came here at Arsenal. It is 1-all.”

Meanwhile, Higuain himself has said that he thinks his decision of preferring for Napoli was absolutely correct.

The 25 years old Argentinean said, “I am glad to have signed for this club. Yes, there were a few other offers as well, but, I think my decision to come here was right.”

When asked about his former teammate Mesut Ozil against whom he will be playing tomorrow, Higuain said, “Mesut is undoubtedly a great player. If you are a striker, you will just love him because he is the kind of guy who will always create scoring opportunities for you.”

“I think Arsenal got him at a modest price especially if you consider the transfer fees at which the clubs have sold players this summer.”

Higuain has so far featured for Napoli in 5 games and has found the back of the net 4 times.
